About Convert2EPUB

Convert2EPUB turns documents into real ebooks: EPUB files with chapters, a working table of contents and text that reflows to whatever size you read at. It launched in 2026 and runs as a website, a desktop app and a Chrome extension. It is operated by Tutku Tashkan and made by TSKN.STUDIO.

Why it exists

Most free converters handle a PDF that is already text by packaging it as it is. The result opens on an e-reader but reads like one long scroll, with page numbers and running heads in the middle of sentences, and a scanned book comes out with no text at all. Convert2EPUB exists for the work in between: finding the chapters a PDF never marked, removing what belonged to the printed page, and reading scans, so the book you download is one you can actually read.

What it's built on

  • Chapter detection, header and footer removal, paragraph rebuilding and scan detection are Convert2EPUB's own.
  • Calibre's conversion engine packages the finished EPUB, and makes AZW3 and MOBI files for Kindle.
  • OCRmyPDF and Tesseract read scanned pages.
  • Pro recognition sends technical PDFs to Mathpix or Anthropic's Claude to rebuild formulas, tables and code. Translation uses Claude.
  • Every finished EPUB is checked with EPUBCheck, the W3C's EPUB validator, so a converter bug is found and fixed for everyone.

How it charges

Conversion that costs almost nothing to run is free, with no account: text PDFs and Word, RTF, TXT, ODT and HTML files. Credits pay only for work with a real cost, such as OCR, Pro recognition and translation. Every conversion is quoted before it starts, the final bill is never more than the quote, and credits for a failed conversion are returned. All the figures are on the pricing page.

What happens to your files

Uploaded files and finished books are deleted automatically. Signed-in users can download a finished book again from their library for up to 30 days. Pro recognition and translation send content to the providers named above, and only when you choose them. The desktop app converts on your own computer, so files never leave it. The privacy policy has the details.
